Sensor-Based Disinfection Monitoring

Sensor-Based Disinfection Monitoring

NosoEx is the Hypros platform for automated disinfection monitoring in clinical environments. IoT sensors on dispensers, beds, and in patient zones capture hand hygiene compliance in real time – without manual effort. At our headquarters in Stralsund, we develop and test these innovations in a realistic showroom equipped with hospital beds and an incubator.

Our Innovations

From hand hygiene monitoring and incubator tracking to real-time location systems – NosoEx combines multiple clinical use cases on a single platform.

NosoEx Sensor Module

Wall-mounted dispensers equipped with NosoEx sensor modules capture dispenser usage in real time. Combined with PoC sensors in bed brackets and table-top bottle holders (TTBH), plus transponders for different staff groups (doctors, nurses, therapists), a complete picture of hand hygiene compliance emerges.

Incubator Monitoring

The Babyleo incubator (Dräger) is equipped with sensor modules at all doors. Capturing opening times and durations per door, combined with dispenser usage data, answers the critical question: Was hand disinfection performed before the incubator was opened?

Patient Zone Sensor

Installed at the room ceiling above the bed, the patient zone sensor uses optical sensors to detect entries and exits into the patient environment. By combining timestamps with dispenser usage data, safe and unsafe contacts are identified – a platform technology enabling further clinical use cases.

5 Moments App & Smiley Feedback

The 5 Moments App digitizes WHO compliance observation with just a few clicks, enabling immediate feedback. The Smiley Feedback Display detects persons in front of the dispenser and provides instant visual feedback – a sad smiley without disinfection, a happy one when correctly used.

Blood Culture Tracking (RTLS)

The specially developed transport box for 6 blood culture flasks for sepsis diagnostics fits pneumatic post containers and can be optionally equipped with a beacon for localization. Via BLE infrastructure (Aruba, Extreme Networks) with locators from Quuppa and Minew, transport times from ward to laboratory are captured seamlessly.
